Be sure to visit the Wall of Fame. This is a list of winners for all the pools I have run (or at least those I could find).
Football at last, football at last, thank God Almighty football at last!
Famous quote from War Eagle Walt
A school without football is in danger of deteriorating into a medieval study hall.
Famous quote from Vince Lombardi
Gentlemen, it is better to have died as a small boy than to fumble this football.
Famous quote from John Heisman
It all started with some office March Madness pools run with just a few participants and using paper brackets (oh those were the days)! I think I ran my 1st office pool around 1996 (it was probably earlier, I just can't find any records before that).
In 2002 my wife was introduced to a Football Pool via some co-workers. It was a pool that Walt Monteith had been running for some 30 years where you try and pick the winners of all the Division 1 NCAA football games (and Ivy League) and the NFL games. It seemed like fun, so I started my own Football pool in 2003 with family, friends and co-workers. In 2004 I hosted my 1st March Madness contest online using a tool call Turbo Tourney. In 2005 I developed my 1st website for the Football Pool (we had been doing picksheets on paper or Word documents up to that point
Since then it has grown with a Women's March Madness and NBA Playoff pool in 2006. In 2009 I added an annual NIT pool followed by a Frozen Four pool in 2011. In 2014 I ran my 1st ever World cup pool. I just love the competition of a sports pool cause sports are better with something riding on it!!!Just a snippet of what some of the old pool websites and picksheets looked like.
Well it was an upgrade from paper sheets. But it sure was a manual process to tally the results. Pickers did come up with imaginative names for picking their teams.
We all have to start somewhere, but things sure have come a long way (thankfully).
This was the website previous to this one.
